Brampton school commemorates World Down Syndrome Day

BRAMPTON— At St. Lucy Catholic Elementary School in Brampton, there was a lot of pointing and snickering today (Friday, March 21), as staff, students and teachers made a statement with their feet.

The school decided to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing ribbons, crazy socks— long ones, mismatched and even printed socks— to highlight the fact that being different is okay.

Having a baby has been my life long dream since I was a little girl. I knew that when the day would come, I would love my baby with all my heart and give them everything. It was the biggest gift, to give life, and I counted years until I would have the opportunity to go through the wonderful experience. Nothing mattered and I would accept what I was chosen for.
